This week’s message explored the story of Abigail, a discerning and courageous woman who intervened when her foolish husband, Nabal, insulted David, risking the destruction of her entire household. Abigail’s wisdom and humility not only averted disaster but also redirected David away from vengeance and toward trust in God’s justice. The sermon highlighted how discernment acts with wisdom instead of emotion, leaves justice in God’s hands, and often requires courageous, timely action. Ultimately, the story points to Jesus, the perfect mediator and embodiment of wisdom, who brings eternal peace where Abigail brought temporary peace.

Philip explored the life of King Rehoboam, Solomon's son, who presented a false image of strength, wisdom, and spirituality while his heart was far from God. Unlike previous characters in this series who we're encouraged to emulate, Rehoboam serves as a warning against phoniness in our faith. The message challenges us to stop performing for others and instead be authentic with God and our community. Rehoboam rejected wise counsel, ruled harshly instead of serving, and maintained religious appearances even after losing everything to Egypt. This sermon calls us to genuine devotion over religious performance, reminding us that God sees our hearts, not just our outward appearances.

This sermon walks through the entire life of Joseph (Genesis 37-45), showing how God used betrayal, slavery, false accusation, and imprisonment to position Joseph to save many lives—including his own family. Throughout 22 years of hardship (ages 17-39), Joseph remained faithful to God, ultimately revealing to his brothers that what they meant for evil, God meant for good. Joseph's life points forward to Jesus—the beloved Son who was rejected, betrayed for silver, falsely accused, and exalted to save many.

Through this story, we learn that sin always begins with a compromised heart, hidden sin produces wider consequences than we expect, and the path back to God's favor requires confession and holiness. The message challenges us to examine what we're allowing our eyes to linger on, consider who would be affected if our hidden life became public, and take steps of obedience that God is calling us to today.

This message explores the story of young Samuel in the temple, learning to hear God's voice in a time when "the word of the Lord was rare." Pastor Philip challenged us to not just possess the "flashlight" of the gospel but to actually turn it on and use it. Through Samuel's example, we learn three essential truths: (1) Samuel's readiness - he was available to God; (2) Samuel's reception - he accepted God's message, even when it was difficult; and (3) Samuel's responsibility - he announced God's truth despite his fear. The sermon reminds us that in a culture full of artificial lights and competing voices, people are searching for truth, and we must be willing to share the light of Christ with boldness and compassion.

Pastor Dan shared the story of Ehud, a left-handed judge God raised up to deliver Israel from 18 years of oppression under King Eglon of Moab. The message emphasizes how seriously God takes sin, while also highlighting His faithfulness to deliver His people when they cry out to Him. Just as Israel fell into a cycle of sin, oppression, repentance, and deliverance, we often find ourselves feeding the very sins that oppress us. Ehud's story shows us that God can use even our weaknesses as weapons when we surrender them to Him and wield His Word against sin.

This sermon explores the story of Rahab from Joshua 2, using the metaphor of dead vines
transformed into something beautiful (a Christmas tree) to illustrate how God redeems
broken lives. Rahab, a prostitute in Jericho, recognized God's power, rejected her former life,
and received God's grace—ultimately becoming part of Jesus' genealogy. Her story reminds
us that God's grace is greater than our past and that He has a redemptive plan for every life
surrendered to Him.

This sermon explores the tragic story of Cain and Abel, revealing how unchecked sin,
jealousy, and pride can destroy our lives and relationships. Through Cain's failure to bring an
acceptable offering and his subsequent murder of Abel, we learn that God desires our
wholehearted worship, not religious performance. The message emphasizes that sin doesn't
kick down the front door—it finds small cracks and compromises in our character. God
lovingly pursues us even in our sin, offering opportunities for repentance, but we must
respond with humility and confession rather than deflection and pride.

Through the lens of discipline (handling Scripture faithfully), dialogue (Jesus' interaction with broken people), and doctrine (teaching that transforms lifestyle), we see how Jesus brings grace and truth together. The message culminated with Carson Hardy's powerful testimony of freedom from sexual addiction through surrender to Christ and the transformative power of God's Word, demonstrating that what Jesus did for the woman caught in adultery, He still does today.
 

In a world filled with spiritual options—like a buffet of choices—we can easily sample many things but still feel unsatisfied. At the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus stood up and offered something radically different: living water that satisfies forever. While the crowd had conflicted responses to Jesus, He extended a compelling invitation to all who thirst. Some rejected Him, but His offer remains: come to Him and never thirst again. For believers, Jesus promises that rivers of living water will flow from us to bless others. The question is: are we stagnant ponds or overflowing rivers?
